    Věra Chytilová’s “Panelstory” aneb jak se rodí sídliště – A History of Walls or How Housing Estates are Born” (ČSSR 1979/1981, 100 min, Czech with English subtitles) was created in the period of “normalisation” which followed the Soviet invasion of 1968. Chytilová’s radical imagery—more fragmented than episodic—shows a single day in a housing estate still under construction.

    The Bruhn, Kain, Neuer exhibition has the secret subheading “Huge Pictures.” Daniela Herr, art mediator at Galerie Parterre Berlin, and exhibiting artist Michael Kain help kids paint a large-scale picture on a roll of paper (3:30 - 4:30 p.m.). At 5:00 p.m. there is a no less impressive film presentation for adults: VINCENT & THEO GB/I/ NL/F 1989 - 139 Minutes – Director: Robert Altman, English, with an introduction by Dr. Claus Löser.

    This rarely seen film — partly due to the lack of a version dubbed in German – focuses more on Van Gogh’s relationship with his younger brother than his struggle for artistic recognition.
