At the corner of Prinzregenten and Waghäuseler Straße in Berlin is a block of land that, remarkably, has never been developed. For 89 years, it has been home to lovingly tended allotment gardens. Despite numerous protests, the garden tenants were given notice to vacate their plots with a deadline of November 30^th 2023 because the land is slated for a redevelopment project by state-owned real estate company, Berlinovo. This exhibition recounts the history of the 2359 sqm block through Lorenz Kienzle’s photographic portraits of the different gardens and their immediate surroundings.
