“What is past is not dead. It is not even past.
We separate ourselves from it and pretend to be strangers.”
Christa Wolf, Patterns of Childhood; Translators: Ursule Molinaro & Hedwig Rappolt; Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1980

Memories told in pictures: dream worlds where the nightmarish reigns. This exhibition brings together six artists whose work engages with the traumas of German, Israeli, and Jewish-German history. Their works explore, in complex and often humorous ways, how these histories continue to shape our identities and societies to this day.
