Located in a former Mariendorf school building dating from 1873, the southwest Berlin gallery can be easily reached by public transport, with the underground and metro buses stopping right outside the door. The gallery is a municipal space on the upper ground floor of what today is the Tempelhof Museum, where professionally practicing artists present showcase exhibitions addressing cultural-historical issues. The gallery also hosts solo exhibitions of recent art school graduates. Each year, over the summer, the gallery hosts a forum for local artists. Art comes to where people live. Barbara Esch Marowski is the gallery director.
