Friendship Fatigue

Friendship Fatigue is an investigation of solidarity in the past and today. The work is situated in the context of the (post) reunification period in Germany, though the questions it raises extend into the present where there is a resurgence of right-wing sentiment. Minh Duc Pham alternates between reading and action as a huge inflatable star shape is filled with air. As the empty plastic skin gradually expands, poems, letters, and other writings, composed by both citizens of East Germany and contract workers living and working there in the early 90s, are read aloud.
