JOKAklubi Beauty Contest

As part of the closing event for the exhibition “MORE THAN BEAUTY,” which seeks to redefine the way the female body is viewed, moving beyond its mere aestheticization, the Finnish-German artist collective JOKAklubi turns ist attention to beauty contests. Known for their unpredictable, chaotic and engaging performances, thriving on collegial friendships and remaining loyal to their communal spirit, they have invited guest stars to artistically respond to the long history of rating women based on their physical appearance.

JOKAklubi’s members are visual artists Niina Lehtonen Braun, Tellervo Kalleinen and Mirka Raito.
