Margarita Wenzel – You are here since you left

In the medieval vaults of the Historischer Keller, orientation is not a path, but a frequency. The room does not answer. It starts to vibrate.
For You Are Here Since You Left, artist Margarita Wenzel developed a site-specific sound installation from almost imperceptible dynamics: air, footsteps, the resonances of the masonry. The sounds circulate in the same frequency range as the human voice, without quite becoming language, before receding back into materiality. Something seems on the verge of communicating, only for all meaning to slip away again instantly.
