A Painterly Echo of the Youth Art Prize Exhibition
You’ve always wanted to know how paintings in a museum are actually created? You’ve never been to a gallery, but want to know how canvases are constructed, stretched and primed? Then this workshop is just the thing for you! Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, join us in the studio for an afternoon of experimentation with colours and techniques — and take your own canvas home at the end.
We’ll start with a tour of the Youth Art Prize exhibition at Galerie Nord for inspiration, which we’ll take back to the studio with us.
From there, we’ll work with raw canvas as our painting surface. Together, we will prime it and bring it to life with colour using materials like acrylics, chalk pastels and oil pastels. Once complete, participants can choose a section of their work to be stretched onto a wooden frame to take home.
As a mark of the exchange between Galerie Nord, which hosts the Youth Art Prize Exhibition, and MiK Jugendkunstschule, which organises it, leftover canvas will be made into small keepsakes. Exhibition visitors can pick up a keepsake from the entrance of the exhibition and take it home.
