The Institut für Architekturbezogene Kunst (IAK) of TU Braunschweig, directed by Folke Köbberling, comes to Berlin. The institute, affectionately nicknamed “Busch,” takes an interdisciplinary, conceptual approach. Three central thematic focuses have emerged in recent years: inheritances, circularity-oriented raw materials, and cohabitation. Rotating exhibitions at Pforte offer insights into these thematic areas and initiate dialogues about contemporary artistic challenges in architecture, art, and teaching.

In True Stories / Narratives of Absence, Ellen Kobe presents works at Biesdorf Palace that transform historical events, political narratives, and personal and collective memory into subtle, often unsettling visual and narrative spaces. Taking real events and their gaps as her starting point, Kobe explores how history manifests itself in absences, shifts and fragmented narratives. Her artistic interventions open up new perspectives in which the invisible, the repressed and the overlooked can be experienced as a powerful space of the imagination.

Archives collect, order, and preserve testimonies of the past in the form of documents, images, voices, objects, and data. Every decision about what is kept is also a decision about what is carried forwards into the future. Archives do more than just administer the past, they shape the very conditions in which history can be remembered, narrated, and interpreted.
Artists in Future Archives / Archive Futures take this temporal entanglement as a starting point, seeing archives as infrastructures of possible futures. They explore how the conditions of archiving are changing and what other forms of remembering, transmission, and knowledge production might emerge from the shift.
