Retrospektive Kunstprojekt: ExperimenTiergarten (1998–2026)

Artist and art therapist Salome Haettenschweiler has run the art project Experiment Tiergarten in collaboration with Jugendamt Mitte (Mitte district’s youth services office) since 1998. The project works with children, adolescents, and young adults from a wide range of social and biographical backgrounds. The focus is on discovering creative potential free from any performance pressure: when things can’t be expressed in words, painting becomes “thinking in images.”* Fairy tales, literature, and mutual exchanges about the works are part of the process. To mark the project’s conclusion, the gallery presents a selection of works produced over 28 years, including pieces by Salome Haettenschweiler that make the connection between her studio practice and her project work clear.
