Alice Hauck and Amelie Plümpe have performed as HAUCK PLÜMPE for six years. The duo has developed a modular building block system to create continuously changing installations and sculptures. At Galerie im Rathaus Johannisthal, Außenstelle (Branch Office) swings into operation on opening night. Exhibition visitors become part of the production upon entering. Modules move on conveyer-belt objects throughout the entire exhibition space. Mass production and increases in turnover in the art market are part of the business yet contradict the idea of creative artistic brilliance. HAUCK PLÜMPE approach this with the irony inherent in their dysfunctional architectures and objects, reflecting on creative and work processes as well as artistic authorship.
