Andreas Barth (b. 1956, Nordhausen) pursues intellectual concentration in his work. He combines minimalist painting with a conceptual approach grounded in a passion for collecting colour systems. A range of colour samples and colour charts represents a desire for systemetisation and, at the same time, a search for intellectual-abstract thought models and emotional worlds. Monochrome works are presented in combination with collages. Breakfast trays from the Polasly Collection, featuring abstract patterns from the sixties and seventies, enter into dialogue with Barth’s works and bolster conceptualisations of a “non-representational world.”
