With inspiring bands and DJ sets, Sounds brings an afternoon long music festival to Galerie Parterre at Kulturinsel on Danziger Straße.
Synthetic-atmospheric harmonies, metaphorical lyrics, rocking guitars, poetic word images, and groovy chords create a musical melange that invites rapt listening and energetic dancing. The musicians and DJ are equally at home in both the music and visual art worlds.
SET is a new band project by visual artist Shira Orion and musician Nethaniel Ratsaby (both formerly of EGONX) that combines a variety of artistic elements. They compose and perform surrealist punk with German lyrics. SET’s songs are light and refined, drawing on everyday symbols, experimental motifs, and pop accents. A unique live performance experience is created by SET in collaboration with artist and musician Johanna Schreier (Shreddy, Hot Chicks), and drummer Omri Gondor (The Gondors).
German-New Zealand duo jesus wore double denim is singer songwriter Marie and multi-instrumentalist and producer Frae. Their fresh, multifaceted sound draws inspiration from bands including LCD Soundsystem, Sylvan Esso, and Air. The two Berlin-based musicians impress with a unique brand of alternative pop that blends electronic elements with catchy melodies and Marie’s warm, soulful voice. Their sound can be playful, dark and introspective, and danceable — sometimes all at once.
hackedepicciotto is Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto. Bass player Alexander is a founding member of Einstürzenden Neubauten. Danielle is a practicing visual artist, co-initiator of Berlin Love Parade, collaborator of Ocean Club & Monika Werkstatt project with Gudrun Gut, former member of cult band Crime & The City Solution, and Alexander’s partner in crime. hackedepicciotto situate themselves between the genres of industrial, experimental, and spoken word. Their music ranges from meditative vocal harmonies and soundscapes to heavy drones and rapid, dynamic, symphonic passages, like a mix of OM, Suicide, Dead Can Dance, Low, and Arvo Pärt.
Paradiso’s music is a transcendental journey through soundworlds that combine house, techno, energetic Eurodance, and progressive elements. Each DJ set is a meticulously crafted narrative, an emotional journey from the deepest bass to the highest crescendos. Paradiso’s tracks feature lush, atmospheric layers, pulsing rhythms, and euphoric drops that electrify the dancefloor. Paradiso, who identifies as queer, is on a mission to foster a sense of belonging and unity, transforming every dance floor into a sanctuary of acceptance and celebration.
