Three-dimensional spaces, enclosures, architectural structures, and biological references form the core themes of sculptural works by Matthias Stuchtey (b. 1961). He deconstructs these elements to create new spaces within space using seemingly everyday materials and semi-finished products from the constructions trade, recontextualising them. Stuchtey also incorporates used items such as furniture and installations from past exhibitions, their history becoming inscribed into the sculptures, transforming them into what he calls “encoded commodities.”
